Part of our Tranquil Art program.

Stephen Bruce A native Californian, Stephen Bruce was influenced by art and nature at an early age. After graduating from Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento, he studied business management at Sacramento City College and, prior to college graduation, accepted a position spending the next 2 decades of his life in retail marketing and management.

During this period, Stephen decided to begin his own business as a marketing representative for an extremely popular and nationally known artist. While working the business side of the art world, Stephen realized in his heart that he really wanted to be an artist and began researching the complexities of a process called metal patination. Now that Stephen is part of the art world in his own right, his work is being collected by designers and art connoisseurs all around the world.

Stephen’s medium of preference is copper, although he appreciates the beauty and unique characteristics of all aging metals. “Copper is my canvas, and patinas are my pigments,” he says. Stephen is self-taught and over the years has experimented with different chemical formulas, timings, and results on copper. Each patina develops spontaneously, and Stephen is left with the challenge of creating the perfect environment to obtain his unique artistic vision. Never far from his mind in this creative process is his desire to blend art and nature. The results are original, patinated, abstract landscapes and mood pieces on metal. Stephen’s artwork truly reflects a sense of his soul partnered with an extraordinary industrial flair.
